A new public forum is being launched in El Dorado Hills.
Organizers from the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce plan to run a breakfast-time discussion venue covering community matters of importance on a regular basis, perhaps as often as once a month.
“Hopefully we can have some sort of monthly forum in the morning,” said the chamber’s Pam Bayless.
The initial El Dorado Hills Community Connection was held April 24 at Holiday Inn Express in the El Dorado Hills Town Center. Invited speakers were Congressional candidates State Sen. Tom McClintock and former congressman Doug Ose.
The community-connection forum is intended to cover all topics of common interest, “from road construction to dog park issues,” said Debbie Manning, president and chief executive officer of the chamber.
“In the last few years El Dorado Hills has seen tremendous growth in both facilities as well as activities available to residents and businesses,” Manning said. “People want to get information about our area but do not know where to go to find it. We want to be the ‘go-to’ source. The chamber wants to go beyond the business community and serve as the conduit to inform and educate both businesses and the community at large.”
McClintock and Ose are Republican candidates to replace incumbent U.S. Rep. John Doolittle, R-Roseville for the 4th Congressional District, which includes El Dorado County. They oppose front-running Democrat Charlie Brown, who lost a close race to Doolittle in 2006.
The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce also runs the annual September Community Family Fair and publishes a business directory.
The next session of the chamber’s Community Connection Forum will be held at an as-yet unspecified date and location.
