The board of directors for a joint powers authority overseeing a Highway 50-Interstate 5 connector project on Friday voted 5-0 today to select Tom Zlotkowski to serve as the JPA's executive director.
The JPA hopes to build a six-lane road to connect Highway 50 in El Dorado County and Interstate 5 in Elk Grove. (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
Zlotkowski is the director of Sacramento County's department of transportation. He's been with the county since 1984, heading up the transportation division since 1994. He will begin the new job as executive director on March 1. For the first six months, he will remain on the County payroll to transition out of the DOT job while the JPA gears up.
The board postponed a decision to enter into a contract with an environmental consultant until its February meeting.
The 35-mile Elk Grove-Rancho Cordova-El Dorado Hills Connector Project would provide an alternative route for motorists who travel on heavily congested highways.
